Donations & Sponsorship:A new year is fast approaching and our club is in need of help. It's been three years since the City of Brisbane has granted us permission to use their facilities for the passion of our hobby. When we first started, donations were abundant and our bills and gas prices were much less expensive. 2x4's were donated to us by local construction yards. Paint, paintbrushes, screws, generators, fuel, EZ-Up tent, trailer, tow truck, and custom made extension cords were all funded by the club members (not to mention all the labor). Permits and insurance fee I, myself, had to fork out (and that's not including the website, also funded by myself). For three years, we have raced, barbequed, joked around, and had lots of fun; honing our skills on the track. We attracted many racers as far down as South San Jose and as far east as Lodi to our no-pressure, all fun, nothing serious, laid back race track. For three years we did this. Forking out all the cash to support this club out of our own pocket. Food, drinks, spare parts, and gas. It was fun! People came, they played, they plugged in, recharged their batteries, and at the end of the day; SOME even stayed to help clean up and put the track away. And SOME even donated a few bucks for the gas (fuel for the generator) . And then, there were the deadbeats...people who would come after the track was set up, plug in, play, pack up before helping to clean up the track- not a single donation, jumped into their car, and just leave. What's up with that? We never ask for people to pay to play on our track. We only ask if they can make a small donation to help maintain and run the track. There was never a mention or a pressure to join our club. Just a mention that you must be a ROAR member. Now, our track is in shamble. Our 2x4's are in need of a new paint job. Permit and insurance are in need of renewal. Our generator needs GAS! Our tow truck needs new brakes and a tune-up. And we also need a transponder system. All this costs money: money we don't have. So that is why we are here asking the only community that we can hopefully rely on- the RC community. We are asking for sponsorship (cash) and/or a transponder system. Here's how we hopefully will help each other out. Our boards need a new paint job, so I figure since we are going to paint them anyway, why not paint [insert name here] as our sponsors? We are asking for help and in return, giving you free advertising. Sponsor a board. Sponsor our club. Help save our passion for racing and our hobby. We have a lot of boards; therefore, have a lot of space available. Also, for making a donation of $50 or more, you will get to race for free for the entire 2006 good weather season. $50. What’s $50? You could spend $50 on four days worth of racing on any other track throughout the whole Bay Area. Consider your $50 donation as a season pass… now is that a deal or what? Not only do you get to help us out, you also get a season pass! |
